Concept Design
This concept design for a Centre for Environmental & Cultural Change in Darlington was one of the larger-scale institutional projects March Designs has worked on, beyond the studio's usual residential focus. The building takes an angular pitched roof form, with a striking purple and orange diamond-patterned facade panel marking the street-level entry.
Design Approach
Internally, the design is organised around a triangulated glazed atrium that draws daylight down through the building, opening onto a sunken courtyard at ground level. A green roof terrace sits above, reinforcing the environmental brief behind the centre. The side elevation continues the angled roofline and diamond-braced glazing that defines the building's street presence.
