As Sydney grows denser, many small developers are turning stand alone houses with large back yards into duplex / dual occupancies.
However no matter how perfect the location, some sites are much harder to obtain council approval for duplex designs for due to various unique environmental factors.
The client for this project thought it was the perfect sized site, and location to build, but as our design got further, and discussions with the councils got further, it appeared that the sloping nature of the site and trees on the neighbouring public reserve posed major issues with a large building.
After weeks of protracted discussions with the council engineers and tree department, we were finally able to come up with a design solution to satisfy both the client and the council.
